Even when nothing particularly bad happens, dating can be a pretty shitful process. Meeting people is hard. Meeting people you actually like is even harder. Making it work once you meet them is harder still. It’s exhausting enough doing it under normal circumstances, let alone when people are seemingly actively grifting you.
On Sunday, the owner of Bondi burger joint Milky Lane, Christian Avant, posted a status to Facebook about a customer that had been absolutely dogged while on a first date:
If you think your Sunday’s bad, a couple just came into ML Bondi on a first date, ate and drunk heaps, he said he was going outside to get some cash out then did the runner, leaving her with the whole bill
What a piece of shit.

Talking about it to 96.1, Avant said that not only did he just piss off without paying the bill, he also immediately blocked the woman’s number.
Not everyone in the universe is a complete turd though, and the staff at Milky Lane tried to salvage at least a bit of the woman’s evening by bringing her some shots, covering her bill, giving her a $150 voucher, and, if that wasn’t already enough, one of the staff took her out for drinks around Bondi after they clocked off.
What a pack of legends.
