Blue Mountains Endures Extreme Weather: Snow Follows Bushfires

Presenting two weather extremes in just as many weeks, the Blue Mountains in NSW saw a drop in temperatures yesterday evening, delivering snow to parts of Katoomba, Blackheath, Lithgow and Oberon.

Which isn’t a particularly news-worthy sight, in an of itself: the Blue Mountains is one of the few regions in NSW that *genuinely* experiences winter – legitimately doing the hard yards while Sydneysiders moan at the sight of the mercury struggling to shoot past 15.

But the snow has fallen just weeks after bushfires tore through the same area of NSW – flames licked close to homes in Wentworth Falls in a ravaging fire labelled as “suspicious” by authorities.

And if the contrast of fire wreaking havoc through an area one week, only to have ice follow the next – doesn’t inspire a Game Of Thrones-based pun as the vehicle for an entire article on a pop culture news website, then frankly, we don’t know what does.
