Local media reports that six separate blasts were reportedly heard at around 2:50pm at a fireworks market, San Pablito. At least 60 people were injured in the blast, according to the Ministry of the Interior. Early reports indicated that one person had been killed, but this is unconfirmed.
The city in which it happened, Tultepec, is known for its pyrotechnics and fireworks industry. Each year in March a weeklong fireworks festival is held in the city where manufacturers show off their wares.
