As reported by Radar Online, The alleged serial killer, Michael Gargiulo, will begin his trial in Los Angeles this week, where he is accused of murdering three known women – neighbour Tricia Pacaccio in 1993, Kutcher’s girlfriend Ashley Ellerin, and another neighbour Maria Bruno  – attempting to murder a fourth woman and neighbour, Michelle Murphy, and could have potentially killed as many as ten women between 2001 and 2008.

Gargiulo was arrested in 2008 after the attempted murder of Murphy, where his DNA was found at the scene.

Ashton Kutcher and Ashley Ellerin were dating when he was 23 and she was 22 and had planned to meet up after he went to a Grammys-viewing party with friends. But according to his statement to police, Kutcher couldn’t get in touch with Ellerin after he’d finished up at the party and when he went over to her house and peered through the window after she didn’t answer the door, he saw what he assumed was spilt red wine on the floor, and left thinking that she’d gone to bed.

The next day he would find out that it was, in fact, his girlfriend’s blood, and she’d been stabbed 47 times in a horrendous attack in her own home.

Michael Gargulio has been in an LA County jail since his arrest in 2008 in relation to the attack on Michelle Murphy, and this year he will face a lengthy trial under the allegations that he is the infamous Hollywood Ripper.

The trial will begin on May 2 Los Angeles time and is expected to run for around six months. Testimonies are expected to begin on May 6.
