Sweet baby angel Ariel Winter is an objectively successful young actress. Thanks to her role on Modern Family, she’s a household name – and thanks to her provocative outfits, she’s a regular in the tabloid pages as well, because god forbid we’d be cool with a hot 19-year-old wearing stuff she likes on her own damn Instagram in her own damn life.
Her most recent critic is her estranged and by all accounts pretty shitty mother, Chrystal Workman, who very classily gave an interview to celebrity rag In Touch magazine even though she hasn’t seen her daughter in years:
“She needs to grow up. I would tell her to dress properly, be the beautiful person she is. I feel sad that she feels the need to expose herself when it’s not necessary. Ariel is smart, beautiful and talented. She is a legitimate actress. She does not need to do this. She is beautiful with her clothes on.”
Unsurprisingly, Winter has responded to this super-gross bit of parental concern-trolling. Her method of choice: a single, pointed tweet.

Winter was raised by her sister, Shanelle Workman, and became legally estranged from her mother in 2015.
