20,000 Sign Petition Against Anti-Gay Iphone App

Pressure is building in the US for Apple to take down the recently released anti-gay Iphone App.

Exodus International is the biggest ex-gay organisation in the world, whose tagline reads: “freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ.” Over 20,000 people have signed a petition created by Truth Wins Out which calls on Apple to ban Exodus’ newly released app as they have with thousands of other overtly sexual, anti-Semitic and racist apps in the past. The app features different modules including up-to-date ex-gay news, event timetables and videos. By giving it a 4+ rating for ‘no objectionable content’, activists argue that Exodus will be able to target vulnerable LGBT youth on a whole new level.

The video above notes some curious facts (among that relentless, Euro-dance soundtrack), including the fact that the male founders of Exodus left their wives and married each other, which conveniently isn’t mentioned anywhere on their website or app. Australians who recently Pash Protested against a similar form of bigotry in the form of Peter Madden will no doubt oppose the app, still available on the Itunes store at the time of writing.
