Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and Arcade Fire Form Super Group

Before you cream your skinny jeans over the prospect of Karen O and Win Butler singing two part harmonies amidst an avant-garde Pitchfork-ready genre known only as Orchestra-Punk – take note…

“Sway Machinery” is a Super group that is comprised of YYY’s drummer Brian Chase, Balkan Beat Box guitarist Jeremiah Lockwooda and Colin Stetson, touring saxophonist for the Arcade Fire. According to their website:

“The band’s combination of rhythmic power and potent folklore takes no prisoners. On stage the energy of submerged worlds is torn out into the light of day. And indeed, the historical tradition of Cantorial music, which is the focus of the band’s work, is very much a lost world. The music of The Sway Machinery invites the listener to become like children wandering in the forest, discovering something mythic and wonderful.”

I can’t understand Hebrew but the music is refreshingly left of field, groove driven, and just a tad epic. Just a tad. Check them out here…
