Watch: Washington Gets Dangerous In “Holy Moses”

Part one of Washington’s top secret project that no one really knows anything about is upon us. Still no concrete evidence of what that might actually be (film soundtrack? musical? performance art?) but in an interview conducted last week, the charismatic chanteuse said it would be the first single from a “magpie’s nest” which “could be counted as a sophomore LP” but is more like “a collection of ideas”. Biblical concept album maybe? “Holy Moses” is single one and Washington admits she was heavily “involved in the writing and the concepts,” for its Stephen Lance directed video which gently ups the production values of past outings with synchronized dance moves, bowls of fire and a parade of Peaches inspired stage wear. On first listen this has all the immediacy and post-heartbreak catharsis of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” (so, you know, hello Hottest 100 top ten) and also features the best use of kazoo since this. Can’t wait to hear the whole thing (or contextualize it in a meaningful way) sometime soon.
