Watch Triple J’s ‘It Gets Better’ Video

The folks at Triple J, with the help of some pretty special music folk, have rolled out thirteen minutes of love this morning in the form of a video contribution to the It Gets Better Project, a movement that aims to impart a message of hope for the future and reassurance for the present to LGBT youth, and anyone else enduring the taunts, trials and tribulations that go hand in hand with what Tom Tilley rightly calls the ‘monoculture of high school.’

The video features staff contributions from Tom Ballard & Alex Dyson, Fenella Kernebone, Pedestrian-annointed King of the Tweet Brendan Maclean, Sam Simmons, Nina Las Vegas, Tom Tilley, The Doctor and Zan Rowe. Strange to put faces to some of those floating voices, no?

Also lending their collective musical support, Jake Stone and Stav Yiannoukas from Bluejuice, Kevin Mitchell from Jebediah and Missy Higgins of Missy Higgins-fame (who looks great as a blonde, right? See, Fenella knows what she’s talking about) all share their experiences of ‘it’ getting better.

It Gets Better was started in September 2010 with a single YouTube video by the project’s founders Dan and Terry Savage and has since grown into a worldwide movement of over 25,000 user-created videos receiving over 40 million hits. With today’s video, the talking heads at Triple J have joined the ranks of everybody from The Obamas to Sia, and everyone in between. That’s a whole lotta love, and not just for the music.
