WATCH: Smith Street Brand Recruit Their Mums To Act Out A Day In The Life

Look, let’s not make any bones about it: The Smith Street Band are easily one of the best music acts in Australia, and I reckon their realist account of Australian life as it as lived is as good as any novel out there. So we’re always happy to chuck the boys a bone when they’ve got something fresh out.

Especially when it’s a video like their newie single, Death To The Lads. The song is great, and the accompanying music video is even better. Proving that you should always share the fruits of your success with your mum, the band has recruited their own mothers to play themselves – as The Smith Street Mums  – and live out a day in their lives, “waking up in their Footscray share house, journeying through the Western Suburbs in a tour van and culminating in a sold-out show at The Reverence Hotel”.

It’s good shit:
This is the first taste of the new record, which will be released early next year via their own label Pool House Records. They’re touring too, with special guests The Nation Blue, Grim Rhythm and Forevr – check out these dates:
Wed November 23rd – The Gov, Adelaide
Thurs November 24th – The Triffid, Brisbane
Fri November 25th – Factory Theatre, Sydney
Sat November 26th – Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Sun November 27th – Corner Hotel, Melbourne w/ High Tension (The Nation Blue not appearing)
