Owing to his off the charts creative agency, self-imposed media exile and propensity to say crazy things, it’s always going to be an entertaining proposition when Kanye West grants someone an interview opportunity. The latest goes to chummy BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe, a feat made all the more impressive by the fact that the New Zealand born broadcaster, as far as we can tell, holds no relation to Kanye’s baby mama.
Highlights? The part where the Pusha T fan club president self-consciously laments the “lapel situation” during his Late Orchestration performance at Abbey Road Studios. The part when he says My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is perfect. The part where he talks about playing synthesizers with Daft Punk. The part where he talks about fucking shit up. The two times he says “no pun intended”. The parts where he explains with supreme clarity why the songwriting on Yeezus is so jarring, brash and discordant. The part where he makes a Truman Show reference. The part where he says “How many motherfuckers you done seen with a leather jogging pant?”. All the parts, basically. Watch it below.
