Kanye And Kimmel Bury The Hatchet

It’s so nice when everybody just gets along. Kanye West sat down with Jimmy Kimmel on his talk show last night to put to bed what Kimmel called “A really dumb fight” that had escalated between the two a couple of weeks ago when Kimmel spoofed Kanye‘s already hilarious BBC1 interview with Zane Lowe. Kanye got wind of the sketch, and spat out a series of tweets (which have since been removed), calling Kimmel a “manipulative media mutherfucker” and showing that he hasn’t quite gotten the hang of memes yet.

The pair were affable from the start, sharing a handshake and a hug, before Kimmel opened with some small talk, “Who are you wearing, is that a new grill in your mouth?” You know, the standard stuff anyone would ask Kanye West about. Yeezus didn’t quite go as far as apologising for his tweet-rant, but instead used the discussion as a platform to talk further about what he had spoken to Zane Lowe about – the media, the paparazzi and his frustrations at being unable to break into the fashion world. He also threw out some Klassic Krazy Kanye lines, explaining that “I’m a creative genius and there’s no other way to word it. I know you’re not supposed to say that about yourself…”,  pointing out that the Zane Lowe interview was “something pretty fearless for someone in my position to do” and helpfully explaining that “Fashion isn’t practical, it’s more about emotion.” Apparently it’s also about style, swag, club, and pussy, if you didn’t already know, leather jogging pants are a “phenomenon”.

The best line of the interview, though, belonged to Kimmel when he said essentially what everyone has been thinking for about six years now – “I don’t know if you know this, but a lot of people think you’re a jerk”.
