Taking ‘playing with your food’ to new heights, Davide Biale has gone ahead and changed the world of Youtube guitar covers. He played the hits by Red Hot Chilli Peppers on bass, using a chilli pepper as a pick.
Truly sensational stuff. While no-one will dethrone the RHCP’s bassist Flea any time soon (you know they released an album last year, right?), Davide sounds pretty good. In two mins, he smashes through half the hits, playing Can’t Stop, Higher Ground, Californication, Scar Tissue and Around The World.
There’s even some weird percussion going on where he’s sampled chopping up a chilli and slapping it against a table, but I’m calling bull on that.
The Youtuber isn’t a stranger to going against the grain – a recent video shows Davide covering Dick Dale’s Misirlou (aka the Pulp Fiction song) with a fidget spinner. The RHCP video was a challenge from Youtube commenter Tatu Tanskanen, and judging by the comments rolling in, Davide’s going to be a busy, busy man.
Artist’s rendition of Davide drowning in requests.
Perhaps the most brutal request of all belongs to this commenter, which may or may not be Flea’s alt account:
Game on.
