Banks is back with us – or is she really? It seems more likely that she’s a ghost, a witch, or a supernatural mirage.
Her new track ‘Fuck with Myself’ is about one’s emancipation from caring about the perceptions of others, and putting your own happiness and existence first. Easy enough in theory; extremely hard in practice; particularly after the end of aromatic relationship, where you have to divorce yourself from caring from the other person, and only fuck with yourself again.
The video for the song is creepy as hell, and brings some incredible ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ realness. Those dancers have photos on top of their heads by the way, in case that was freaking out your eyes too.

You know how in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ it was abundantly and immediately clear that Glenda was a good witch, and the green witch was wicked? Banks is amazing because with her witchy, ethereal tones, she’s an utter delight to listen to and watch, but she’s a mystery; there is a 50% chance she could be good, and a 50% chance she could be evil. It’s a fun occult Russian roulette, and we bloody love it.
