Turns Out ‘Baby Driver’s Edgar Wright Fkn Loves Himself Some King Gizzard

If you’ve kept your eye on everything Baby Driver recently, you’ll know that it’s pretty much a musical without dance numbers. The music that director Edgar Wright uses to weave together the story is incredible – if the heavy use of quality tunas in Guardians Of The Galaxy is your kinda thing, you’re gunna bloody love Baby Driver.

Wright dropped in to Triple J this morning to have a bit of a chat with Gen and Dylan about his obsession with music, and confessed that he loves himself some Australian music.
“In the last 12 months, I’m thinking about Australian bands I really love…obviously Tame Impala, but also Courtney Barnett, Pond, and that artist called…Olympia? She an Australian?” he said on the breakfast show.
“But then I tell ya the other band I’ve seen twice in the last year that I really, genuinely love…is King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.”

HIT DAT VIBRASLAP.

He also said that he’s going to try and catch up with the King Giz crew while he’s down in Melbourne, maybe they can have a bit of a chit-chat about him directing that film clip for them.

Wright also told Gen & Dyl that if he was going to do a Baby Driver sequel, he’d make sure that he used King Giz’s ‘Gamma Knife‘ for a pursuit scene.
Oh, and he totally dragged Dangermouse and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich to see the Giz play Reading Festival last year, and blew their minds with the band’s wildly psychedelic, endless songs.
NICE.
