Grammys 2016: Courtney Barnett, Tame Impala Nominated For Big Awards

The 2016 Grammy nominations are in, and a number of Aussie acts, including the likes of Courtney Barnett and Tame Impala, find themselves up for some big awards.
Barnett, who recently took out the J Award for Aus Album Of The Year, is competing alongside Meghan ‘All About That Bass’ Trainor for Best New Artist. It’s likely to be the first and last time those two names ever appear in the same category.
Tame Impala, who scored big with Currents at the ARIAs this year, are nominated for Best Alternative Music Album, in a bracket that also includes Wilco and My Morning Jacket.
Fellow Aussies Hiatus Kaiyote are up for Best R&B Performance for ‘Breathing Underwater‘, while old m8 Keith Urban is nominated for Best Country Solo Performance.
Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar pretty much hogged all the rest of the nominations; amongst other things, they are competing in the Album Of The Year category, and are collectively nominated for Best Music Video for the ‘Bad Blood‘ remix.
