The first Soundwave 2104 announcement was made last week, and despite the mountains of rumours that had piled up recent weeks, Trent Reznor‘s recently reformed Nine Inch Nails weren’t at the top of the bill. Or in the middle of it. Or anywhere. But fear not, industrial-electronica fans! Reznor had this to tweet over the weekend, promising an arrival soon:
Australia: we love you and we’re coming. Didn’t feel Soundwave was the right vibe for us or our fans – working on a better scenario.

Presumably, this was in response to Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah, who, in his trademark fire-fuelling manner, let his itchy Twitter finger loose in response to fans upset with NIN’s exclusion from the bill:
@sarahgallarello Sorry Sarah. Sadly Trent wants to be mainstream now and reach Justin Timberlake’s audience 🙁

Further tweets from Maddah implied that NIN were on the bill, but pulled out at the eleventh hour:
@TRAjiK_SiN813 @nineinchnails @trent_reznor Unprofessional is confirming a set of engagements and then cancelling at the last minute.

Ahead of the new album Hesitation Marks coming out on August 30th, Reznor released two new NIN tracks last week – the very Nine Inch Nails-ish “Find My Way” and the very not Nine Inch Nails-ish “Everything”.
