The Temper Trap On Working With Channel Orange Producer and Songwriter Malay

The Temper Trap are back. The world-beating Aussie five-piece preferred by Aaron Paul’s iPod and slow motion sports montages everywhere recently found themselves in the serene surrounds of the salubrious La Casa Artist Residence in Byron Bay, NSW to feel the sand beneath their toes and start work on their forthcoming third album.

But they’re not doing it alone. As fans of each other’s work, the ARIA winning five-piece found a friend and collaborator in LA-based producer and songwriter Malay, whose production credits include Alicia Keys, Big Boi and John Legend as well as producing, writing, engineering and instrumentation for Frank Ocean’s critically acclaimed future pop opus, Channel Orange, for which he won a Grammy Award.

He developed Ocean’s work into something truly special and appears to have made a similar impact on the Melbourne band.

“Having another person in to share ideas with and challenge us to do things differently and think outside of the box is going to be really helpful in terms of the creative process for this next record,” lead guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto said.

We look forward to hearing what they come up with.
