The Presets Release Retrospective Mash Up Single

People born before the 90s: remember what was going on in your brain the first time you heard ‘Steamworks’ and it broke to that wild siren part and it felt like the walls were going to crumble around you? Nope. Neither can we. All we know is that The Presets have been reinventing Australian dance music since the opening track of their debut album and they haven’t stopped since.

With that in mind, J&B Scotch whisky last week announced a collaboration with the Sydney duo in which they were tasked with superimposing their recent history over their ancient one to celebrate the launch of J&B’s new line of Mash-Up flavours.

Drawing on their iconic decade-long back-catalogue, vocalist/keyboardist Julian Hamilton and drummer/percussionist Kim Moyes have mashed up some of their most iconic singles – including ‘My People’,  ‘Are You The One’ and ‘Talk Like That’ – to create a breathless new single that is pretty much a mid 2000s time machine in MP3 form.

“Going through a decade of music was like seeing many moments of our career flash before our eyes,” the duo said. “We’ve always enjoyed new and  innovative ways to approach our music, and re-working a number of tracks into this   brand new mash-up was a really fun experience.”

The launch of the J&B Mash-Up flavours – Sparkling Apple and Ginger Ale & Lemonade – is paired with an exclusive artwork series on the cans and ads by heralded Sydney street artist Ben Frost, and continent spanning design duo Craig + Karl.

The Presets’ J&B Mash-Up track will be available from today for exclusive streaming via the J&B Australia Facebook page. Presets fans also have the opportunity to win a once in a lifetime performance from the band here.
