The Darkness Are Reforming, People

The Darkness have announced that they’re getting the band back together after a four-year hiatus. This is fantastic news for leotard-wearing skinny men everywhere.

The British glam-rock band, beloved by Australia for their balls-out anthems like ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ and ‘Get Your Hands Off My Woman’ called it quits when singer Justin Hawkins went to rehab in 2006 for cocaine addiction. Those who have been missing Hawkins’ falsetto (in his place we got Mika – joy) will be glad to know that not only will the group be playing Download Festival in the UK, but also writing new material. We’d love to see a duet with Florence Welch, one of the few recently minted English performers who can match the Hawkins in both volume and intensity.

“We’ve been remembering why it was so much fun in the first place,” Hawkins told the BBC, “just four men making loud music in a room.” No mention of the girls, booze, catsuits and cocaine, which were probably also fun. So haul out the spandex and tighten those leather pants; The Darkness are back and no doubt they’ll be Down Under faster than you can get out of that white, tassled bodysuit.
