The Artist Formerly Known As Chet Faker Drops New Music W/ Radiohead Vibes

Ya boi Nick Murphy – formerly known as Chet Faker – only just the other day announced he was abandoning his famous nom de plume and releasing tunes under his real name, but we didn’t realise that he was ready to give us music so quickly.

He linked a new track directly from his Facebook named ‘Fear Less’
It’s… pretty strong! Definitely a change from the kind of downtempo/soul vibe of his earlier music. This one sounds like more recent Radiohead fare: full of bleeps and bloops, hard, angular basslines and soaring vocal melodies. But it’s still got that lush Chet Faker feel if that’s your vibe.
It was announced on triple j this morning that Murphy is the second confirmed act for Laneway Festival 2017, after last week’s announcement that AB Original will be performing and MCing.
If this is the direction he’s heading in, we’re keen to hear a bit more. Cheers Nick. You’ve justified your name change for now.
