Temper Trap Say No To Perez Hilton

We recently caught up with Melbourne four-piece The Temper Trap and quizzed them about the more surreal aspects of across the pond acclaim. Their unexpected answer? Perez Hilton.

Perez, the ubiquitous celebrity and gossip blogger isn’t usually considered a barometer for good music (he relinquished any credibility by championing Lady “No Pants” Gaga) though he does fancy himself a tastemaker of sorts. The Aussies’ recent SXSW showcase was attended by Perez (see below Tweet) who refers to them as the straight Scissor Sisters and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” soundtracks the trailer for his new film “500 Days Of Summer”). They were also asked by Perez to play his SXSW showcase which featured the likes of Kanye West, Kid Cudi and Little Boots. They politely declined.

Screw the NME and Pitchfork nothing screams “cross over” like the adulation of Perez Hilton. That if anything is the truest example of their much publicized international hype and if that’s just the start their future looks pretty fucking bright.

Look out for Pedestrian’s video interview with The Temper Trap 2.0 on the website soon.
