Sydney’s Acer Rebrands As Allphones Arena

In sad news for aesthetes/everyone, Sydney’s Acer Arena has officially re-branded as the none too appealing Allphones Arena. We hope this doesn’t result in a longterm conversion from world class arena to discount warehouse specializing in Tamagotchis and Christmas lights.

Implemented yesterday as part of a blanket rebrand of the venue’s website and wikipedia page, the change follows a five-year naming rights deal struck between parent company Nine Entertainment and telco retailer Allphones. During its five year tenure as “The Acer” Sydney’s first choice for tables, ladders and chairs matches and Justin Bieber concerts was voted the best arena in Australia and among the top 10 arenas in the world. A spokesman for the Olympic Park behemoth says it attracts over one million patrons per year and ranks second only to London’s O2 in terms of turnover.

Sadly for all involved “see you at The Allphones” is a phrase that no one will ever say.
