Spoiler Alert: A Singer With A Song From A Country Won Eurovision 2013

A Wildling woodland sprite borne of Shakira and fun. acting as the elected representative for Denmark, a fabled kingdom north of The Wall, has won the annual $19.2 million World Idol offshoot Eurovision in Mälmo, Sweden.

Bookmaker’s favourite (because everything about her is a fairy tale that writes itself) Emmelie de Forest, 20, beat out 25 other competitors using words set to a melody, flautists, drummers, bare feet and a bared soul to take out the title of Most Eurovisionary with her song ‘Only Teardrops.’ Emmelie of De Forest then performed her victory chant in front of 125 million people and a curtain of fiery only teardrops and confetti; very restrained.

Farid Mammadov of House Azerbaijan took second place with the emotional ballad ‘Hold Me,’ which he performed atop a literal glass cage of emotion inside which a dancer in a morphsuit mirrored perfectly his ballad hands, journey, soul, beauty and truth as an artist.
Time will perform a retrograde loop and double back on itself when the Eurovision Grand Final is broadcast later tonight on SBS1 from 7:30pm. We’ll be live-blogging the shoes off this pony as per usual; to make it more appealing to hipsters, or something.
