Byron Bay is home to a disproportionately high number of dreadlocks, fire twirlers and good vibes as well as the best music festival in Australia – Splendour In The Grass. Next year however, Splendour will leave its spiritual home in Belongil Fields and take place north of the border in Woodford, Queensland, home of the Woodford Folk Festival. Hopefully the vibe travels with it.
Splendour cites “the comprehensive approval process with the NSW Department of Planning” as the main reason for the move, but promise a permanent home in Byron Bay in 2011 and every year thereafter.
Organizers have also made it exponentially harder for music lovers to feign illness and ditch work as Splendour will take place over THREE days from Friday July 30th to Sunday August 1st 2010. Good luck backing up on Monday everyone!
