Splendour In The Grass Live Preview

It’s still more than two months away, but anyone lucky enough to have scored a ticket to this year’s Splendour In The Grass will probably be starting to do some minor excitement wees and contemplate the typical pre multi-day music festival questions. Will there be major lineup clashes? Where is the organic donut stand located? Where the hell is Woodford? Who will be the designated drug mule? Should I take gumboots or just wrap my feet in plastic bags? And for everyone else – for the people that missed out on Splendour tickets, we’ll have plenty of epic sideshows to satisfy our live music needs; plus we don’t have to stagger through trenches of piss-filled mud with a bunch of loose strangers off their heads and groping your boobs/balls. That’s the spirit!

Many of the best bands on the lineup have recently been touring in various parts of the world, so to get a taste for what’s in store over the Splendour weekend – and for the sideshows – here’s a preview of some of the live performances that have us salivating harder than Pavlov’s dog.

FOALS
We are stoked to be co-presenting the Foals sideshows while they’re out here. Total Life Forever their new album is absolutely beautiful and they’ll be amazing live.

PASSION PIT
Passion Pit somehow manage to translate their unique indie dance tunes into a live show really well – as anyone who saw them at Big Day Out would confirm. This footage is truly shite, but you can get a sense of how good they actually sounds live – and the way the camera person is jumping really makes you feel like you’re there.

YEASAYER
Here’s Yeasayer at Coachella playing one of the best singles of 2010 so far.

HOT CHIP
It’s amazing how much Hot Chip seriously rock out considering they’re electronic geeks. “One Pure Thought” – combining dance moves AND air guitar is a beautiful thing.

BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE
An emotional live music experience.

THE MIDDLE EAST
The Townsville band killed at South By Southwest earlier this year and are currently doing the same thing on tour in the UK.
