Rolling Stone Editor-in-Chief Curates His Ultimate Laneway Festival Playlist

Plannin’ on heading along to St Jerome’s Laneway Festival next year? Rolling Stone Magazine’s editor-in-chief (and Pedestrian Coach) Mathew Coyte has put together his pick of 10 must-see artists at next year’s festival. If you MUST SEE these acts, show us your MS Paint skillz to win VIP tix.

PARQUET COURTS – ‘Stoned And Starving’
This is as close to an anthem as these Brooklyn slackers get, but damned if it’s not one of the best songs of 2013.

CHVRCHES – ‘The Mother We Share’

A sunny piece of electro pop from Glasgow’s best-loved export. This will be CHVRCHES’ second visit in 12 months. We love ’em.

ADALITA – ‘All Day Venus’
After the stripped-back stylings of Adalita’s debut, her new album ups the growl, and welcomes back the Adalita of Magic Dirt.

WARPAINT – ‘Love Is To Die’
Warpaint’s deftly crafted indie rock demands that they’re credited with being more than just a bunch of total babes.

SAVAGES – ‘Shut Up’
Punk rock hasn’t seen a band this searing and visceral since Bikini Kill. Savages fuse the taut grooves of Gang of Four with the spidery guitars of Fugazi and the gothic drama of Siouxsie Sioux.

KURT VILE – ‘Wakin’ on a Pretty Day’

Vile’s (sort of) title track from his latest, Wakin’ On A Pretty Daze does exactly what it says on the box – a sunny stoner-anthem.

JAGWAR MA – ‘The Throw’
Like the illegitimate child of Tame Impala and Flume, Jagwar Ma create hooky soundscapes to base your forgotten summer around.

LORDE – ‘Tennis Court’
We’re not sure what New Zealand megastar Lorde has to be so glum about, but this gothic-pop masterpiece is hard to beat.

CASS MCCOMBS – ‘Brighter’
Teaming up with the dearly departed horror movie scream-queen Karen Black, McCombs croons beautifully on this ballad.

DANNY BROWN – ‘Dip’
If you had any doubt that Brown likes his drugs, “Dip” will set you straight. The most fun you’ll have without getting your stomach pumped.
