You gotta feel sorry for Paul Banks’ doppelganger/long lost twin/future self in the video for “Games For Days” – the first single taken from his debut LP as Julian Plenti. Which besides sounding like a really bad porn star name is the enigmatic moniker under which the Interpol frontman flies solo.
In the Javier Aguilera-directed clip, evil Paul Banks (identifiable by his black garb and proficiency with handcuffs) gets pseudo-sexual with Metric frontwoman Emily Haines, trashes a hotel room and documents the “craziness” Memento style via Polaroid camera. Good Paul Banks or at least the Paul Banks that ain’t gettin’ any then finds said photos and reclines on the bed in defeat. With regard to Paul Banks we can only assume that the Polaroids serve as a masturbatory aid or a jealousy-inducing fuck you. And by “Polaroids” we mean “Julien Plenti”. Zing!
