New Videos: Bjork, Animal Collective, Foals, Salem, Apache Beat

Lots of new videos to get through so I’ll be brief. First, a live performance from Icelandic songstress Bjork who honoured the late British fashion designer Alexander McQueen at a London memorial service held earlier this week. The song is a cover of Gloomy Sunday as arranged by Jónas Sen. Bittersweet for obvious reasons.

Bjork – “Gloomy Sunday”

From sorrow to saws in Foals’ new video for “2 Trees”, one of the mellower cuts from their moody sophomore LP “Total Life Forever”. Not entirely sure what’s going on in the Adam Bizanski directed video but paper mache animal puppets and lip-syncing combine in ways that are both hilarious and scary, mostly scary though.

Foals – “2 Trees”

Mesmerizing new video from NYC five-piece Apache Beat. Track’s called “Another Day”, video’s all sun-kissed bliss, kaleidoscopic symmetry and all types of VHS graininess superimposed over luscious archive footage of the natural world – lava explosions, cosmic wormholes, running horses and whatnot. This one’s taken from their debut LP Last Chants (get it?) which also features big name contributions from members of Yeah Yeahs Yeahs, Lightspeed Champion and The Rapture.

Apache Beat – “Another Day”

The Blair Witch (House) Project or something like that.

Salem – “Asia”

Lastly, check out the bluish new video for AnCo’s “Bluish” here.
