Watch/Listen: Björk ‘Biophilia”

Björk has cautioned the world on her “most ambitious and exciting work to date”.

The title track from her up-coming Biophilia has been released, along with a film clip, and the whole thing is very much a Stanley Kubrik Space Odyssey kind of affair.

The eccentric songstress will use the Manchester International Festival as a vehicle to launch her inspired opus, built around her forthcoming record, Biophilia, which refers to ‘love of life, or living systems’. The production is monumental to say the least; embracing a 30ft pendulum, companion apps, a bespoke gamelan-celeste hybrid and a bespoke digitally-controlled pipe organ.

It’s about time we saw a few more bespoke digitally-controlled pipe organs showing up on stage – clearly what let the Strokes down on their new record.

The instruments will provide the adhesive, as Björk explores the ‘sub-anatomical’ through the medium of art installations, live performance and internet.

Björk’s Biophilia show premiers June 30 in Manchester.
