New Bon Iver Song “Calgary”

Justin Vernon is so much better at the lo-fi indie folk stylings of his pet project Bon Iver than he is at guesting on hip hop tracks. The self-titled follow up to the band’s stunning debut For Emma, Forever Ago is due out on June 17 and in the meantime you can get a feel for the new record with the track “Calgary” (below). More of the beautifully atmospheric intrumentation and Vernon’s trademark hushed falsetto vocals.

Like For Emma, the new record was created in a cold mountain setting: it was both recorded and mixed in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. A few hairy men and alone time in the mountains usually results in a lot of masturbating and maybe some fishing, not beautiful music like this.

Bon Iver will be out 17th June on Jagjaguwar/Inertia.
