Mumford & Sons Enlist Ed Helms, Jason Bateman For Amazing Parody Of Twee Stereotype

Twee royalty, well-seasoned purveyors of folk who pass their time in a permanently sepia existence, clothed in rags and gorging on banjos for sustenance, Mumford & Sons totally get that exaggerated stereotype they inadvertently set themselves up for; you should probably stop reminding them.

An interesting development has surfaced today in the saga of Mumford & Son’s walking, gold-mine landing hackney, as the band has evidently admitted defeat, shouting “Fuck it, yolo” by parodying their own perceived image in their music video for Hopeless Wanderer. Enlisting Ed Helms, Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte to critically damage their already beyond-repair cliché, the new and improved troupe bring a fresh meaning to folk and twee.

Walking across dusty plains as a ragtag group of vagabonds, enlightened by the lens flares that couple every second shot, the group tick off everything people criticize about Mumford & Sons in hilarious hyperbole: we see violent banjo solos, commual weeping over generous steins, a tastefully lit barn, sly homo-erotic undertones, grubby faces bordering on vagrancy, steinbeck-esque beards/hair/costumes, and a flawless pièce de résistance trashing of their humble instruments.

It’s the best thing you’ll watch all day. Thank you, Mumford & Sons, for being self-aware legends who know who to take it.
