MGMT, The Shins To Flog Pink Floyd On Fallon

Pink Floyd must be falling on hard times – or want to buy a new planet.

The seminal psych-rockers began the world’s biggest re-issue bonanza yesterday, with their classic 1973 album Dark Side Of The Moon getting a full remaster treatment, as well as a bloated 14 CD box set of every note they ever laid down on wax heading out to Dads and stoners who love syncing it to Alice in Wonderland the world over. To celebrate Roger Waters’ new Aston Martin fleet, a bunch of young cats will be playing the band’s tunes all of next week on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. You can tell they’re serious, because they sent a pig over the Harbour Bridge and everything.

Pitchfork reports that The Shins will be opening Monday night’s show with a cover of Breathe, with other artists slated to perform including MGMT (obviously, since they may as well be Syd Barrett‘s children), Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters, who get to play a cut from The Wall (‘In The Flesh’, for all y’all playing at home) with Waters himself. One assumes they will then all go and buy one hundred per cent pure cocaine by the barrel and chop it up with American Express cards made of actual diamond.
