Maggie Rogers Is Hanging Out To Smash VB And Vegemite On Her Aussie Tour

Maggie Rogers Australian Tour 2019

Folky-pop goddess Maggie Rogers has been kicking some major goals this year – she just played two shows at New York‘s iconic Madison Square Garden supporting Mumford and Sons, she absolutely slayed her debut appearance on Saturday Night Live and she finished recording her debut album, Heard It In A Past Life which is slated for release on Jan 18 next year (pre-order HERE.)

So yah, the gal’s been busy, but I managed to snag her for 10 min on the phone which was a complete fkn delight, since I am a pathetic Maggie Rogers fangirl.

“Being able to play MSG, especially with Mumford and Sons, it was just so special. I had so many friends and family in the audience. I felt really comfortable on stage which I wasn’t really expecting. I don’t know, it felt really good,” the 24-year-old, who was born in the US state of Maryland, tells PEDESTRIAN.TV via phone from NYC. “And SNL, well that was definitely a lifetime goal for me. It was just insane. I walked in and immediately wanted to start crying.”

If you didn’t catch it, watch Maggie’s incredible performance of Fallingwater right HERE. Basically, the gal slayed so hard that a Refinery29 headline declared “Maggie Rogers Gave The SNL Performance That Jackson Maine Wished Ally Did”.

“That headline was fucking awesome, I couldn’t stop laughing. Yeah, Fallingwater was really special. In a lot of ways it felt like I was saying goodbye to the record,” she explains. “Like, you make something and then you give it away and it’s no longer yours. It was a really emotional and special performance, I felt like this shift [in me]. I feel things very deeply.”

At this point I ask what star sign Maggie is since I too feel things very deeply, and she says she’s a “Taurus with Gemini rising” and tells me to check out an app called Co-Star which has really detailed daily horoscopes. Thanks for the tip, Maggie.

Brief astrological interlude aside, it’s time to quiz Maggie about her upcoming Australia/NZ tour. Having visited our great Southern land for the first time to play Splendour back in July 2017, Maggie says she got a real taste for what Aussie punters are like.

“The shows were SO fun. The crowd was so present, they were crazy shows. It was fucking bonkers, I love playing in Australia,” she tells us. “I mean, if I could be in Australia every 6 months I would, so I’m getting there as soon as possible.”

Maggie’s tour kicks off on May 21 in Perth, and she’ll be playing in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and even visiting Auckland for the first time. “I hope I can check out some of the sights this time,” Maggie tells us of her next Aussie jaunt. “The annoying thing is I seem to only come during winter, one of these days I’ll come and experience your beautiful summer.”

While “sights” are important and all, I’ve gotta ask Mags if she’s tested some of our Aussie classics: Tim Tams, Vegemite and of course, VB. “I LOVE Tim Tams, but I haven’t ever had Vegemite. Or VB, what is that, a beer?” Sensing the need to remedy the situation ASAP, I tell Maggie that yes it’s a beer and yes she has to come to the P.TV office to smash a few tinnies, to which she replies: “That sounds like a fucken party, I’m in.”

Watch this space, we’ll obviously turn this into ~content~.
