Considering her Tamil Tiger ties, politically charged tweets are to be expected from everyone’s favourite Sri Lanka via London activist – Maya Arulpragasam. Better known as M.I.A. the critically acclaimed MC urged Barack Obama to “give back” his Nobel Peace Prize via her Twitter, comparing it to John Lennon sending back his MBE.
The tweets that followed continued to address Obama’s win, with Maya even snaring a quote from Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour who labeled it “a vote of confidence”.
M.I.A. cleverly responded by tweeting: “but the people are the vote of confidence ! they gave him that! you cant win a oscar for a film your (sic) gonna make in the future.”
