After campaigning for ginger genocide, the artist known as M.I.A. continues to blow up minds/the internet by naming her third studio album ///Y/. That’s MAYA if you’re not fluent in emoticon, which of course, is M.I.A’s real name. Ostensibly the slash-heavy album name is noteworthy for the 2.0 approach to the self-titled album, but what’s even bolder is the fact that ///Y/ is completely unsearchable in Google which doesn’t comprehend non-letter or non-number characters. Google ///Y/ and all you’ll be searching is “Y” which will probably lead to really boring articles on how entitled Gen-Y are these days.
Anyway, the news broke via the most epileptic site on the internet, M.I.A’s own N.E.E.T. Recordings homepage, which, if you’re willing to chance vomiting on your monitor, also houses her new pop-friendly single “XXXO”.
