Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches is never one to sit back and quietly take it when people give her shit, which is one of the (many) reasons we love her.
She has previously told her internet detractors to “bring it on, motherfuckers”, and a short time ago, when the video for ‘Leave A Trace’ arrived, she hit out at commenters who said that her wet hair somehow made her seem like a “slut.”
The fiery Scot is at it again, as overnight, a video emerged of a Chvrches show in New York‘s Central Park, in which she well and truly put a heckler in her place.
Mayberry was talking between songs when a dude in the audience yelled out “marry me”, and she quickly proceeded to put him in his place, telling him:
“Oh, come on. What’s the hit rate on that? When you go to public places and ask women you don’t know if they want to wed you, does that work out well for you, sir? And also, I assume because you’re here that you’d know a bit about our band. And I’m very grumpy. I don’t want that shit.”
“Luckily for me right now, I have a microphone and you don’t,” she added, to the laughter of the audience.
When a second heckler asked Mayberry why she was so grumpy, she responded by flipping him off, before the band launched into new song ‘Playing Dead’.
