Katy Perry’s Brand New Tune Is Pumping Down At Circular Quay Right Now

Attention all Sydneysiders who are still carrying the torch for Katy Perry: you’ve got the opportunity to haul arse down to Circular Quay and have a listen to her brand new choon, courtesy of a weird little installation down on the foreshore.

Very early this morning – far, far too early, in my opinion – Katy tweeted a link to a website which featured little disco balls pinned to a map of the world. Including, obviously, a little one smack bang on Sydney. Also one in Auckland, but let’s be honest here: who cares.
We sent a very tired PEDESTRIAN.TV social media producer down to Circular Quay to scope it out, against his constant protestations, and here’s the news we’ve gotten back on this most momentous of days in world history:
  • The song is named Chained To The Rhythm.
  • It’s produced by Swedish pop wunderkind Max Martin.
  • It’s co-written by our very own Sia.
  • It’s an “8/10 banger” and “better than her past stuff” which seems to me to be high praise.
Here’s the installation itself:
Word on the street is that this tune will be dropping for the public at large a little later on – but if you wanna be the first to wrap your ear flaps around it, get down to Circular Quay pronto. Forget your job. Your manager will understand, I assume.
