Julia Gillard Hip To The Jive, Will Release Funky Fresh Playlists On Spotify

In a bid to demonstrate desirable young people qualities like appreciation of music and intimate knowledge of The Internet, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has taken a leaf from cool guy Barack Obama’s playbook by putting together a funky fresh playlist for Spotify in an effort to prove to hip young political dilettantes voters everywhere exactly which potential candidate religiously follows the footy and possesses the most comprehensive knowledge of the music of Gotye. Both very important issues.

A spokesperson for the PM says that the “eclectic” music playlists will refrain from broadcasting any overt political messages but instead focus on just how awesome Australian music is. “The PM is a keen fan of music but she’s also a keen user of social media,” the spokesperson said. “Clearly there’s a large audience out there that have got a connection with the Prime Minister and this seemed like the logical next step.”

The potential playlist themes include one targeting undecided Frankie readers “Songs to Knit To”.

Here are some of the musicians confirmed so far.

Bruce Springsteen
Blondie
Midnight Oil
Kylie Minogue
Cold Chisel
Gotye
Birds of Tokyo
Jessica Mauboy
Angus and Julia Stone
Western Bulldogs Theme Song

And a few more who we would like to see included.

Who else would you add?
