Julia Gillard Must Really Love U2

Despite the multitude of alcohol, cigars, peace offerings, Dignitary gifts and national food products Julia Gillard has received since first taking office, the PM has surrendered all but one item back to Parliament, keeping an iPod, headphones and CD she received from U2 frontman Bono. The pair first met at Kirribilli House last November.

Reports The Herald Sun: “according to Federal Parliament’s Register of Members’ Interests, she has surrendered everything except a 16GB iPod nano, headphones and a CD from the U2 frontman, worth $320.91.

Explains Gillard: “And, as I wish to keep the gift, I understand I am required to make payment to the Department of Premier and Cabinet for the wholesale price, plus GST for the amount over $300. I will be forwarding a cheque forthwith,

No idea what this says about her as a person but we have a new found interest in the PM’s stance on U2’s post Achtung Baby output. One for question time perhaps.
