James Murphy Talks Inner-tubing To Free Energy

James Murphy – the founder of DFA Records and LCD Soundsystem front man – is so random. His singing voice is like an off tap black Seventies funk singer, but he looks like your unmarried, slightly overweight uncle who’s all about the good times and cold beers – and he also kind of sounds like your unmarried, slightly overweight uncle who’s all about the good times and cold beers when he is in conversation. Murphy has recently spoken to Zane Lowe of BBC Radio 1 about latest DFA signing Free Energy and the recreational activity their music lends itself to.

In this clip he discusses life after LCD Soundsystem – including DJing, surfing and how “nobody can make me do anything”. He just seems like an awesome chilled out dude that would just be great to hang out with. Like my single, slightly overweight uncle Mike. Hey Mike!
