It’s a match made in indie heaven, with confirmation that Arcade Fire are currently working at DFA studios with James Murphy. Though this is most excellent news, it’s hardly surprising considering Murphy often cited his desire to work with the band when explaining his reasons for pulling the plug on LCD Soundsystem. Likewise, Arcade Fire have had a long association with Murphy, bonding as tour buddies during the 2008 Big Day Out, and joining LCD Soundsytem on stage during their final show for a rousing rendition of North American Scum.
Arcade Fire STILL with us at DFA… This is going to be one great sounding album!

It was reported late last year that Murphy and Arcade Fire were working on a couple of tracks together but the prolonged DFA studio time hints at more extensive collaboration. While the news probably won’t resonate with most mainstream Americans, with Murphy likely to hold as much sway has those no-name fucking Suburbs hippies who won that Grammy, the rest of us can agree that DFA are on a pretty safe bet. This IS going to be a great sounding album.
