Iggy Azalea Reveals Why She Pulled The Plug On Her Tour

Last week, Iggy Azalea straight-up cancelled her already-postponed Great Escape tour of the US, without offering a substantial reason beyond something vague about how she’s a “psychopath” and a perfectionist.
The internet immediately began speculating as to why she called the shows off, with the three most likely reasons being poor ticket sales, a fall-out with management, and window win a win window win win window win a window.
At the time, her people claimed that it simply was not ready, but Iggs herself has finally spoken up, telling Seventeen Magazine that she pulled the plug because of a “creative change of heart.”
The ‘Fancy’ rapper says she is keen to start changing her sound and visuals, and “if I stayed on my tour, that would mean I wouldn’t even be able to start working on that until after Christmas,” she told the magazine.
In addition to this, she said that she deserves a break after “going non-stop for the past two years”, adding that being on all the time is “emotionally draining” and that she plans to take some time to “enjoy what I worked so hard for.”
Performing ‘Problem’ every night has also proved to be stifling. “I am a musician and a creative person and I want to be able to perform new stuff and do new things,” she said. “I feel like I’m at the end of an era now.”
Finally, Iggs said she couldn’t find opening acts that were appropriate. “I began the search, and to be honest, I never found someone who was available on those dates that I thought was a good fit for the tour.”
Clearly, certain phone calls were never made, or went unreturned …
Iggs finished off by saying:
It just seemed like it was so many things pointing me in the direction of not doing [the tour], that I finally thought, when enough things come your way, you can’t ignore the signs. It’s not easy to decide that the best thing to do is cancel a tour, but that’s the best thing for me. I don’t want to disappoint fans. I feel really bad. It was a tough decision to make, but it was the best thing.

There are people thinking it’s me giving up, or me failing at something, somehow. I said to a friend the other day, “The only reason why at this point I would stay and do this tour is to save face publicly, or to not endure publicly what people will say if I cancel it,” and that’s not a good enough reason to do something. So that’s the choice I made.
ICYMI, Iggy is now officially betrothed to Nick Young, because love is real after all.
