Here’s your first look at André 3000/Benjamin as Jimi Hendrix opposite Imogen Poots as Keith Richards’ ex-boo and his ‘discoverer’ Linda Keith in the unofficial biopic All Is By My Side, written and directed by recent Academy Award winner, 12 Years A Slave screenwriter and recipient of Steve McQueen’s passive aggressive non-applause, John Ridley.
All Is By My Side was produced without the blessing of the Hendrix estate and thus is bereft of his original compositions, instead taking his pre-Are You Experienced years as its focus and utilising covers of his contemporaries for its performance soundtrack (The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Muddy Waters, the Stones and Elmore James).
The film had its premiere late last year at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it received underwhelming reviews and will screen again at SXSW later this month. Are you excited?
