Grizzly Bear Cover Hot Chip

Unless you’ve been living under a rock/don’t have the Internets you’ll be well aware that Grizzly Bear have been in town for Sydney Festival. Between playing a billion sold out shows, the Brooklyn four piece headed to the Triple J studios to record an acoustic version of Veckatimest standout “While You Wait For Others” and a cover of Hot Chip’s “Boy From School”.

Apparently, the band first covered the track three years ago after what they dubbed a ‘semi-disastrous’ show in Berlin. The story goes that the PA wasn’t working and bass player Chris Taylor broke a string, so to keep the audience occupied while repairs were being made they played an improvised version of “Boy From School” on the spot. They didn’t know the words very well so it was a little awkward, a little makeshift, and involved some creative humming and repetition. Don’t worry though, they’ve since gotten the lyrics down pat.

You can listen to the track as well as an interview with the band here.
