The song’s original creator Gotye is the last person you’d think would have time to keep tabs on the endless juggernaut of “Somebody” re-imaginings – with booked gigs on Jimmy Kimmel, Saturday Night Live and NPR to take care of – and yet somehow he’s found time to round up the mountain of variations and throw them together into the ultimate “Somebodies” mash-up.
On Gotye’s YouTube channel he writes:
“Reluctant as I am to add to the mountain of interpretations of Somebody That I Used To Know seemingly taking over their own area of the internet, I couldn’t resist the massive remixability that such a large, varied yet connected bundle of source material offered.?? Thankyou to everyone who has responded to Somebody That I Used To Know via YouTube. It’s truly amazing!
