Enigmatic Girls frontman Christopher Owens has announced his split from the band via Twitter.
“Dear all, This may come as a surprise to many & has been an issue of much thought for me. My decision was not easy to make. I am leaving Girls. My reasons at this time are personal. I need to do this in order to progress. I will continue to write & record music. More will be announced soon. I thank you all for everything. Sincerely-Christopher”
It has yet to be announced whether the San Fran band’s sole remaining member Chet White will continue to work under the Girls banner, seemingly unlikely as Owens was both lead singer and principal songwriter.
The band last toured the country for this year’s Laneway Festival in support of their sophomore album Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Check out our interview with Chris below.
