Gang Of Youths Postpone US Tour As Singer Dave’s Voice Is “In A Bad Way”

Beloved Sydney band Gang Of Youths have been forced to postpone their remaining US and Canadian tour dates, with singer David Le’Aupepe revealing that he is seeking treatment to address issues with his voice.

In a heartfelt post to Instagram, the singer apologised to disappointed fans, saying “I’m so sorry, but unfortunately we have to postpone the next few date of the US tour. My voice, which has caused me lots of trouble before, is in a bad way.”

“After visiting with some wonderful doctors, they advised that for the long term safety and health of my voice that we cut the tour short, so I can go home to London to receive treatment (speech therapy, vocal training etc).”

He added that the issue is “my fault and I need to do better with caring for my voice, telling Gang Of Youths fans “I hate disappointing all of you, and hopefully with some help I won’t need to cancel stuff again.”

The band are next booked in for European dates in June, before hitting Australia for Splendour In The Grass in July, although Le’Aupepe anticipates that his condition won’t affect these later dates. Either way, we hope he’s able to rest up and get well soon.

Gang Of Youths’ US tour seems to have been plagued with problems from the get-go, with Le’Aupepe seething after Delta airlines smashed his beloved Gretsch guitar in transit back in March.

He later posted footage of himself playing a new Fender, thanking them for sorting him out, so at least that story has a happy ending.
