Former Beyoncé Bodyguard On The Hook For Explosives Charge In Regional WA

A former bodyguard for Lady Gaga, Usher and Beyoncé is set to be sentenced for explosives charges in WA after pleading guilty earlier this year.

The 47-year-old Wayne Schmarr, who is also a former ADF soldier, was charged with unlicensed possession of dangerous goods after the explosives were found by police in a drug raid in 2016.
The court was told that Schmarr had just moved into a friend’s house in the suburb of Lamington in Kalgoorlie when he noticed nearly 2 kilos of explosives in rubbish bags at the front gate, which he then moved into a shed at the back of the property.
Asked why he hadn’t reported the explosives to the police before the raid occurred, he told the court that he didn’t have time, because the police arrived with a warrant for his new housemate less than an hour after he moved in.
According to Senior Constable Thomas Banyard, Schmarr declared the explosives to the cops straight away. Police found three “sausages” of power gel, two containers of ammonium nitrate, safety fuses, and three detonators.
Schmarr will face sentencing on Friday.
