Finn Wolfhard Dropped A Single & It’s Not Worse Than Anything We Did At 15

I fully believe that it should be a rite of passage for every person to at least briefly be in a band, regardless of level of musical aptitude – I sure did and I can’t play dick on shit. It’s a fun thing to do with your mates and shows you that it’s actually pretty easy to make stuff that you like even if you’re not that good at doing something, which is great if you’re the sort of person who never does creative projects because you’re worried they’ll suck ass. My belief about this extends even to pre-existing celebs; if Keanu Reeves can have Dogstar and Zooey Deschanel can have She & Him, tiny precious Finn Wolfhard can have Calpurnia.

Wolfhard made a name for himself playing Mike Wheeler in both seasons of Stranger Things but has not been shy about his love of playing music, chucking the occasional guitar and vocal cover up on social media.

The band has been going for a while now, playing shows in New York and releasing covers of some songs by some of their favourite bands, but the single City Boy that they just dropped marks their first original release.

NME reported in November that the band was recording an EP with Twin Peaks singer Cadien Lake, with the band signing to Canadian record label Royal Mountain Records, who have released music from the truly sublime Mac DeMarco and the transcendentally noisy METZ (I would be negligent in my duty if I didn’t tell you to stop what you are doing right now and listen to the self-titled METZ record, it kicks so much ass).

The song has a jangly, vaguely country-ish, vaguely bluesy indie pop vibe to it and is available on Spotify or iTunes or Google Play Music, whichever of the services tickles your fancy. Shred on, tiny dudes.
